Dr John J Ryan

Dr. John J. Ryan is the Medical Director at The Fitzwilliam Square D2 Medical Centre. He graduated from University College Galway and is originally from Donnybrook, Dublin 4. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Ryan has been an important member of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and has played at both junior and senior levels with London Irish while based in London. His primary medical training includes psychiatry and general practice training in the Western and Midlands training schemes respectively.
As a founding member of D Doc, a well-respected doctors-on-call service established in 2005, Dr. Ryan is dedicated to making healthcare more accessible. Under his guidance, The D2 Medical Centre at Fitzwilliam Square is a modern, fully computerized practice with electronic connections to St. Vincent’s Hospital and St. James’s Hospital, both renowned for their medical excellence.

Dr. Ryan’s medical expertise extends throughout the British Isles, including specialized training with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. He is well-known for his work on steroid joint injections, with 25 years of experience in this area, mainly treating professional athletes and patients with arthritis.

His impressive career includes several professional qualifications, including eight higher medical diplomas. Notably, he holds Diplomas in Child Health and Women’s Health from the Royal College of Surgeons and the Irish College of Physicians. He also has diplomas in Clinical Psychiatry and Geriatric Medicine, as well as a DRCOG diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. Additionally, he has a joint diploma in Sports Medicine from the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland, a higher diploma in Dermatology from University College Dublin, and a higher diploma in Patient Safety from the Irish College of Physicians.

Dr. Ryan is also associated with several respected medical institutions and is an associate member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. He is fully registered with both the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council in Great Britain, reflecting his commitment to ethical medical practice. Furthermore, he is fully covered by the Medical Protection Society in London, demonstrating his dedication to providing excellent healthcare services.

Dr Caoimhe Daly


MICGP MB.BCH BAO Diploma in Obs and Gyn London. 

Dr. Caoimhe Daly conducts her Well Woman Clinic at the Fitzwilliam Square D2 Medical Centre each Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm. Dr. Daly has now returned from The United States.  A graduate of University College Dublin and the Leinster GP training scheme, she holds a certificate in contraception from the distinguished Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) and possesses expertise in the insertion of both Mirena and copper intrauterine devices. Dr. Daly’s extensive medical education includes comprehensive hospital rotations throughout Dublin, where she gained significant experience in Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, General Medicine, Psychiatry, and Endocrinology. Her proficiency is further enhanced by specialized training undertaken at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia. Moreover, Dr. Daly is proficient in the insertion and removal of the subdermal contraceptive implant Implanon. She is anticipated to rejoin the esteemed medical team at Fitzwilliam Square in September 2024, bringing with her an enriched knowledge base and heightened clinical acumen.

Dr. Daly is passionate about women’s health, focusing on holistic approaches to both contraception and menopausal care. She emphasizes the importance of wellness at every stage of life, offering support that ranges from routine check-ups to specialized treatments. Dr.Caoimhe Daly’s warm demeanor and expertise make her an invaluable partner in your health journey at Fitzwilliam Square. At her well-woman clinic, all contraception is free from the ages of 19 years to 35 years.

Miss Niamh O'Leary


Niamh joined our team at D2 Medical Centre in 2019. Her friendly and skilled approach greatly improves how our practice operates. She plays a key role both in-person and over the phone, providing essential support to our clinical staff.

During the challenges of the pandemic, Niamh showed outstanding leadership by guiding the reception team with determination and resilience. Her hard work and dedication were recognized when she was promoted to practice manager in 2023. This achievement highlights her commitment and valuable contributions to our team.



Aoibhin Hassett


In October 2022, Aoibhín Hassett joined The Fitzwilliam Square D2 Medical team. With a background in both hospitality and medical administration, Aoibhín brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in providing excellent customer service. Her diverse skills, developed over years of hard work, have quickly made her an essential part of our practice.

In her role, Aoibhín supports both Dr. John J. Ryan and Dr. Caoimhe Daly while pursuing a degree in Psychology. This study helps her understand patient care and interactions better. As a key member of our front-of-house team, she consistently provides outstanding support to patients, enhancing their experiences. Her strong skills also work well with our medical professionals, improving the quality of service we offer.



Dr. Lucy McShane


Dr. Lucy McShane embarked upon her medical journey as a graduate entry student at UCD, culminating in the attainment of her degree in 2015. Prior to delving into the realm of medicine, she acquired a primary degree in business from the esteemed Trinity College Dublin. Dr. McShane proceeded to immerse herself in General Practice training through the Dublin/Mid Leinster GP training scheme, culminating in her triumphant completion in 2021.

Throughout her training, Dr. McShane traversed a labyrinth of rotations spanning various medical disciplines, including but not limited to Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Medicine, and General Medicine. Her steadfast dedication to specialization is evidenced by her acquisition of a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the esteemed Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI). Additionally, she boasts a Certificate in Contraception and has undergone comprehensive LARC training, encompassing the intricate procedures of Implanon insertion/removal and coil insertion/removal. Notably, she has also obtained a Certificate in Dermatology from UCD, further enriching her medical repertoire.

Dr. McShane presides over her well-woman clinic with aplomb, dedicating her Mondays to offering comprehensive and specialized healthcare services at the D2 Fitzwilliam Square Medical Centre. Her unwavering commitment to providing exemplary care underscores her devotion to the well-being of her patients.

Dr. Lucy McShane specializes in women’s health, particularly in contraception and menopause management. She believes in empowering women through informed choices and personalized care plans. From family planning to navigating the changes of menopause, Dr.Lucy McShane provides comprehensive consultations, ensuring that every patient feels heard and understood.

At the well-woman clinic, all contraception is free from the ages of 19 years to 35 years.

Anne Marie Tyrrell


Nurse Anne-Marie Tyrrell inaugurated her tenure at D2 Medical in the month of July 2023, bringing forth an extensive reservoir of experience and expertise. A distinguished alumna of the Mater Hospital, Nurse Tyrrell has dedicated the lion’s share of the preceding 25 years to her vocation at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, with a predominant focus on the oncology services domain.

In her relentless pursuit of knowledge and professional augmentation, Nurse Tyrrell completed a Higher Diploma in Cancer Care in the year 2017. During this epoch, she rendered significant contributions to both inpatient and daycare oncology units, thereby manifesting her unwavering commitment to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to patients embroiled in the battle against cancer. In the face of the exigencies posed by the COVID pandemic, Nurse Tyrrell adeptly redirected her focus towards Occupational Health, thereby further diversifying and enriching her professional portfolio.

Extending beyond her clinical undertakings, Nurse Tyrrell has distinguished herself in the academic arena, attaining a Higher Diploma in Business Management. In the nascent stages of her career, she judiciously applied her expertise in the capacity of a business and clinical developer within a medical devices company, thereby showcasing her versatility and proficiency that transcend the conventional confines of clinical practice.



Andrew Watson Lead Physiotherapist


Andrew is the lead practitioner of Raglan Sports Medicine. Andrew in particular looks after the patients of D2 Medical on-site with Dr John J Ryan, Dr Lucy Mc Shane, and Dr Caoimhe Daly. A Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT) with Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland (ARTI) and Chartered Physiotherapist with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), he previously worked as a rehabilitation specialist with Dr Conor P. O’Brien, Consultant Neurophysiologist and Physician in Sports and Exercise Medicine, at the Raglan Clinic.

He graduated with honors from a BSc Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation degree in IT Carlow after completing his internship at Texas A&M University in College Station, USA. He has also obtained a second primary degree in Physiotherapy from University College Dublin. He received his MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Glasgow under the tutelage of Prof. Stuart Hillis, a renowned cardiologist and expert in sports medicine. Andrew is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is a Titlelist Performance Institute (TPI) certified medical professional and specializes in 3D motion analysis of the golf swing.

He has experience treating and training people from all walks of life including several athletes who competed in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Previously a keen rugby player, he has remained heavily involved in the sport and has been consulting for other sports teams in Dublin. Andrew is constantly educating himself on the latest research and techniques to pass on the best quality treatment to his patients.
